About this can

The original recipe, in the can most people know

This is the drink Brazilians mean when they just say "guaraná": carbonated water, sugar and guaraná extract, with citric acid for the sharp edge and caramel color for the amber. The taste sits between apple soda and cream soda, with a dry, slightly bitter finish from the guaraná that keeps the sugar from going flat.

Each can holds 350 ml, which is 11.83 fl oz, a little short of a US 12-ounce can. In the current photos the 12-pack comes in yellow cans printed with the years Brazil won the World Cup, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002; the product description warns that the packaging may vary, and the recipe on the side stays the same.

Serve it very cold. The bubbles are finer than in a cola, and once the can warms the sweetness takes over.
